Northern
Minnesota - The Search
for Solitude
|
The
Pennington Triangle is an area of Northern
Minnesota which has it’s northern point at
Blackduck Minnesota, it’s western point at
Bemidji Minnesota and it’s southern point at
Cass Lake Minnesota. This is an area where one
can seek the solitude only northern Minnesota
can offer.
The first signs of solitude become unveiled as
the smell of the fresh crisp air of the
Northwoods penetrates a person’s being. There is
an abundance of peace and quiet that only the
woods and lakes can provide.

The days start with magnificent sunrises over
misty lakes and will fade with a beautiful
reflection of sunset from the western sky.
Nature’s display of northern lights, full moons,
and unending clusters of stars in the black
night sky fill the evening hours. The smell of
campfires burning and the longing call of the
loon make the experience of solitude complete.
Housed in the beautiful Chippewa National
Forest, the Pennington Triangle Area is home to
the largest number of Bald Eagles in the
continental United States. Everyday the majestic
Bald Eagle can be seen soaring over the area
lakes or perching on the tall trees of the
forest. The loon, Minnesota’s state bird, can be
found patrolling the area waters and sending
it’s call across the lakes.
The area is home to many wildlife species
including the white tailed deer, black bears,
raccoons, porcupines, fox, wolves, otter,
beaver, muskrat, and many different species of
birds and ducks. This abundance of wildlife make
the Pennington Triangle area a hunter’s
paradise.
Muskie, Northern, Walleye, Small Mouth and Large
Mouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill, Sunfish, and
Perch all are available to make this a
fisherman's trophy-land. The abundance and
variety of fish in the lakes of the Triangle
continually bring fishermen to the area from
opening weekend through the winter.
If it’s solitude you are seeking this is the
place for you. But, the area has much more to
offer from fishing and hunting, to sight-seeing.
Visit the Pennington Triangle area to find a
vacation that will bring you peace throughout
the year as you remember the experience of the
Northwoods.
